Day 01 Arrive Chennai
Southern Odyssey (10 Days)
Chennai | Trichy | Madurai | Thekkady | Kochi
Upon arrival you will be welcomed by our representative & transferred to Hotel. Chennai - India’s fourth largest city and the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu was the site of the East India Company’s first settlement founded in 1639 on land given by the Raja of Chandragiri, the last representative of the Vijay nagar rulers of Hampi. Overnight at Chennai.
Day 02 Tour Chennai
Morning tour the ‘St. Mary’s Church’, built in 1678 – 80, was the first English Church in Chennai. The Saint Thomas Cathedral, built in 1504, then re-built in neo - gothic style in 1893, this Roman Catholic Church is said to house the remains of St. Thomas the Apostle. Also visit the Kapaleeshwarar Temple, an ancient Shiva Temple, constructed in pure Dravidian style. The Sri Parathasarathy Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, built in 8th century during the reign of the Pallavas. Other attractions include the National Art Gallery and Museum, which house some beautiful temple friezes, the bronze gallery, and archeological section. Drive past the High Court Building, Fort St. George and the famous film studios. Overnight at Chennai.
Day 03: Chennai to Trichy (5 ˝ hrs)
After Breakfast drive to Trichy - situated on the banks of the river Cauvery is the fourth largest city in Tamil Nadu. It was a citadel of the early Cholas which later fell to the Pallavas. Here you will visit the Rock Fort, Sri Jambukeshwara Temple, Tiruvannaikaval, Srirangam & other museums and art galleries. Check in late evening. Overnight stay at Trichy.
Day 04: Drive Trichy - Madurai (02 Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Madurai - one of the oldest cities in South India, has been the center of learning and pilgrimage for centuries. Upon arrival check in. Overnight stay at Madurai.
Day 05: Madurai Tour
After Breakfast visit Madurai - the primary interest is the Meenakshi Temple, where Dravidian temple architecture may be considered to be at its best. Its hall of a thousand pillars is fabulous and is filled with worshippers at all hours of the day. The tour also includes a visit to the Thirumalai Nayak Palace & Thiruparangundram temple. In the evening witness temple ceremony at Shree Meenakshi temple. Overnight stay at Madurai.
Day 06: Madurai- Thekkady (03 hrs)
Morning at leisure. Explore the town and visit the Tea museum. Later drive to the spice capital Thekkady, located on the Tamil Nadu - Kerala border. This unique wildlife sanctuary is about 300 square miles and centered on an artificial lake fed by the Periyar River. Upon arrival check in. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 07 Tour Thekkady
This morning game viewing is on board boats, which carry you along convoluted waterways and afford sightings of elephant, bison, deer and occasionally tiger. This tropical habitat makes it one of the premiere reserves of southern India with all manner of flora and fauna in abundance. Return for breakfast, later visit spice plantation where you can learn about pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and vanilla among many other spices and plants. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 08: Thekkady to Kochi (04 hrs)
Morning breakfast at hotel, checkout and drive from Thekkady to Kochi - Located in the beautiful state of Kerala, Originally built by the Portuguese, Cochin has of the finest natural harbors with lagoons and canals and fishing hamlets. With its year-round shipping facilities, it is today the busiest port. The cosmopolitan character of the city is reflected in the buildings and structures representing different regions of the world. A city of peninsulas and islands, today it is Kerala's commercial hub. But it is not only the breath-taking beauty of Kochi that draws you towards it. It can also be just a careless daub of tinted light where sea and sky unite. On arrival check into hotel & relax. Kathakali show in evening. Overnight stay at The Hotel.
Day 09: Kochi tour
After breakfast proceed on sightseeing tour of Cochin. Visit the Bolghatty Palace - The palace is situated in the Bolghatty Island and was built by the Dutch. St. Francis Church - The Church of St. Francis is another place that tourists must visit during their trip to the beautiful city of Cochin. Jewish Synagogue - The Jewish Synagogue was built in 1568 and is extremely beautiful. It is exquisitely ornate by Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers. Mattancherry Palace - The Mattancherry palace is also known as the Dutch palace, however, it was originally built by the Portuguese. Overnight at Kochi.
Day 10 Departure
After breakfast checkout from hotel and transfer to Kochi airport for onward flight.
