Pondicherry


The Varadaraja TempleWhile other parts of Indian Society is more or less has influenced by the British Culture, Pondicherry symbolized the french influence in India. Pondicherry is placed 160 Km south of Madras. It is said that Agastya Muni once had his ashram here. Puducherry, which means "New village”has changed into Pondicherry with the due course of time. This place is famously known as “The French Riviera of the East”.

Attractions
Pondicherry is famous as there Sri Aurovindo Ashram Situated. This ashram is founded by Sri Aurovindo in 1940.The ultimate goal of ashram is to build up self development or self sufficient institution for humanity through knowledge-devotion-service.
The Varadaraja Temple is the most important Vishnu temple in town and is located just west of Gandhi road.
After the death of the Sri Aurovindo “Sri Aurovindo International Education centre” is founded on his thoughts and ideas on education.
The clam and serene beach goes along the eastern side of the city.
Auroville based just ten km away form the Pondicherry main town. This ville is based on the model of
an universal town with different nationalities, faiths and beliefs. The Chief attraction of the Auroville is the globed shapes Matri Mandir.

Thanjavour or Tanjore


Brihadeshwara templeIIt is laced 54 Km to the south west of the Tanjore. It is positioned in between the Sevaroi and Palani Hills. There is a myth that the name Trichy was named after 3 headed Demon Trisira.This flourishing mercantile centre, Tiruchirappalli is well known for its educational institutions, industries and temples. This is a famous tourist spot. Rock Fort and Ranganath Swami Temple in Sree Rangaram are two prime Attraction For the tourists and Pilgrimage.

There is a Cave temple Of Pallav era which is also popular for its sculptural uniqueness. Ascending to the cave temple one will find Bell Tower .The biggest temple in South India is Sree Ranganath Swami Temple having the area of 250 hectaresof land in an island. The famous Baikuntha Ekadashi Festival is held here for 9days from 15th Dec to 25 December. The grand Anicut Barrage is on the Trichi -Tanjore high way. It is a stone wall Barrage constructed by a Chola King in 11th century.

Trichy or Tiruchirapalli
